Roses in my Garden

When I uncovered my mental garden I saw a pair of muddy boots.
They were stomping on my roses trying to kill my roots.
I asked "Why must you destroy the beauty I perceive?"
They said "There's your beauty" as they pointed to my weeds.
I said "It's really very sad you have such bitterness inside,
now you must leave my garden until your bitterness subsides."
I removed the tramped roses then planted more in their place.
I wiped the tears from my eyes and a smile grew on my face.
Then I noticed wild weeds growing everywhere.
They were green and very healthy, I asked "How'd you get in here?"
"You let us in when others defined your intelligence and state of mind.
You fed us well cause you believed the misconceptions other perceived."
One by one I uprooted the weeds and laid them in a pile.
I dried them out and burned them, then I began to smile.
I plant roses in my garden, so take care when you walk through.
Give respect to me as I give it to you.
