Tear stained checks
puffy face
such a beautiful girl
man, what a waste.
Always met with opposition
always challenged to fight
she was once so beautiful
a torch shining bright.
She was once so proud
of all she had done
but a lower mentality
had finally won.
There were those who'd beat her
some who'd cheat her
few who'd greet her
and treat her well.
There were those who'd taut her
really didn't want her
abuse and flaunt her
she lived in hell.
She tried to be strong
she tried to hold on
surrounded by those
who wanted control.
They had to break her
so they could remake her
strip her soul and reshape her
as if she were clay.
In order to mold her
they'd mock her and scold her
quite often they told her
the role in life she should play.
They covered her spirit
with a shroud of self-hate
planted doubt in her mind
and determined her fate.
She gave up her soul
her very essence was lost
the price paid for approval
far outweighed the cost.
To herself she's a stranger
esteem is nowhere in sight
her dreams become things
haunting her in the night.
She escaped through a pipe
committing slow suicide
she paid admission
then boarded the Enterprise.
As I stood by her grave
it occurred to me
she'll suffer no more
she's finally free.
